Carpenter Foreperson


Ratia Construction LLC is seeking a full-time on-site carpenter foreperson to join our team and rapidly growing general contracting business. This position is primarily on-site doing rough and finish carpentry work from basic framing to high-end cabinetry. They will also be responsible for overseeing sub-contractors and tradespeople at active job sites. In addition to hands-on skills, the candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills to assist Owner and Project Manager with client management and tradesperson oversight for a variety of remodeling and construction projects. Based on experience, wages will be $1000 to $1600 per week, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Overtime wages are 1.5 times the hourly equivalent wage for hours exceeding 40 in a week. The candidate may need to be able to flex their time commitments upwards as workload dictates. Responsibilities: Basic to intermediate rough and finish carpentry ie: trim, cabinetry, hang decorative fixtures and hardware, framing, drywall. General trades skills: Basic painting, site prep, site maintenance, and site clean-up as needed, picking up supplies/materials, providing hands-on assistance for on-site tradespersons. Work independently and handle multiple projects/tasks at various project sites. Assist Owner in coordinating construction work according to priorities and plans. Monitor sub-contractors, job site security, and any unsafe conditions. Report adverse conditions to Owner. Participate in problem-solving to troubleshoot issues and challenges as they arise. Qualifications: 3-5 years carpentry experience. Previous experience with constructing and/or installing custom and stock cabinetry preferred. Bilingual English and Spanish preferred. Ability to safely use basic power tools. (Tools to be provided by Owner as required). Ability to read and understand architectural and designer draftings and design plans. Basic (high school level) math skills required. Must be detail-oriented and maintain a positive attitude in stressful situations. Ability to communicate Client needs and feedback to Owner and need-to-know individuals on a timely basis and effectively and appropriately communicate with all parties, Clients, Owner, building management personnel, back-office staff, and subcontractors. Must be a team-player who is able to react to Client demands and unforeseen issues with a positive attitude. Must provide own transportation to and from a variety of job sites in and around the greater Chicago area. Owner will reimburse for excess vehicle use and parking as required. Driver’s license must be in good standing and driving record free of significant infractions. Criminal background checks will be performed prior to hire.
